Doesn’t it feel like stretch mark creams and lotions are everywhere when you are pregnant?! And furthermore, every mama you talk to will tell you exactly which one you HAVE to buy in order to prevent those pesky marks. It’s hard to know which ones will actually help, let alone if the ingredients in these creams are safe to use while pregnant. You guys already know how passionate I am about non-toxic living and using clean products in our home. So, naturally, I decided to forego all of the store-bought lotions and make my own at home. This has definitely been one of my most-requested blog posts to-date, so I am super excited to share my DIY Belly Butter Recipe with you guys today!
Yes, I have heard many people say that getting stretch marks is a genetic thing and there’s nothing you can do to prevent them. However, this has not stopped me from trying! All of the ingredients and essential oils used in this recipe are all-natural and work wonders in terms of skin-support. They are super moisturizing, help with skin elasticity, reduce the appearance of redness, and can help smooth out any funky lines or marks. Basically. there is nothing better than this combo right here for that ever-changing body of yours! This belly butter takes about 10 minutes to make and once you have all of the ingredients you need, it’s fairly easy to whip up.
As far as application goes, I started applying a variation of this recipe the week I discovered that I was pregnant! It took a few weeks for my bump to start showing, but it never hurts to start prepping your skin for the inevitable growth. I typically apply this twice a day; once in the morning after I shower, and again as I am getting ready for bed at the end of the day. I usually slather this all over my belly, thighs, chest, bum…basically anywhere that has been growing at an alarmingly fast rate (haha). This belly butter melts into your skin and is super easy to spread all over yourself! Not to mention, it smells divine!
