Homemade Hot Chocolate Recipe

Okay, okay, I know what you’re thinking. You’re SO over warm, cozy beverages and you’re ready to swap out your hot chocolates or ciders for frozen margaritas. Believe me, I’m right there with you girlfriend! However, with the never-ending cold and rainy weather we have been having up here in northern Germany, I still find myself craving warm beverages to curl up with every night! This Homemade Hot Chocolate has become a household staple in the Malone home, so as your friend, I feel obligated to share it with all of you!

My family and I made this for the first time for our “Baby It’s Cold Outside” Winter Baby Shower, and Ryan and I have been making it weekly ever since! This recipe is beyond easy to make, and you probably already have all the ingredients for this waiting in your pantries. Trust me when I say, you’ll never buy those pre-made hot chocolate packets again after giving this recipe a try!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons of granulated sugar (to taste)

  • Your favorite toppings (We love marshmallows, whipped cream, or candy canes)

Directions:

  1. Whisk all ingredients together in a saucepan or teakettle, stirring constantly on low-medium heat until warm
  2. Pour into your favorite mug
  3. Add toppings
  4. Enjoy!
