What’s In My Carry-On?

Our month of travel begins today and I could not be more excited! Our first stop? Drum roll, please…I said, drum roll, please…USA BABY! Ryan and I haven’t been home to see our friends and family since our wedding last summer, so we are itching to get these wheels up! With all the traveling that we have ahead of us, we definitely had some serious packing to do this past week. Something I take very seriously when it comes to packing? My carry-on bag!

With all the international flying we do, we have clearly learned that what you decide to pack in your carry-on bag can make or break your experience on the flight. Therefore, I am showing you exactly what I pack in my carry-on bag to ensure your trip runs smoothly and comfortably.

Tote Bag | Kindle | Headphones | Travel Pillow  | Travel Wallet (Similar) | Pens (Similar) | Hairbrush | Mascara | Chapstick | Lip Gloss | Hand Sanitizer | Deodorant | Compact Mirror | Warm Socks | Travel Adapter Plug | Portable Charger | Cardigan | Passport | Cellphone |

What I pack in my carry-on bag

Tote Bag: This is my favorite tote to use as my carry-on because it fits a lot, is easy to hold, and can fold up super small if needed.

Kindle: Don’t forget to download some books before you leave! You’ll need to kill time somehow!

Headphones: Let’s face it, the headphones that the airlines provide are usually not the best quality. Just save yourself the ear-discomfort and pack your own. These are my favorite because they’re super comfy.

Travel Pillow: Pillows and blankets are usually provided on all international flights. However, the pillows are ALWAYS so small, so you might want to bring your own just to be safe.

Travel Wallet: I NEVER travel without this. It’s just so convenient to have everything in one place. ID, credit cards, passport, money, boarding pass, cell phone, etc. Everything you need when traveling can fit inside this one wallet.

Pens: Something people often forget about! When traveling internationally, you have to fill out customs forms on the plane before you arrive at your destination. So, unless you want to awkwardly ask your neighbor to borrow a pen, just remember to pack your own.

Hairbrush: Let’s be honest here, no one likes waking up on a plane (basically in public) and having bedhead. Am I right?

Mascara: In case you need to freshen up after a nap.

Chapstick: Because that recycled airplane air can be pretty harsh on your lips!

Lipgloss: For more freshening up.

Hand Sanitizer: I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets completely grossed out by all the germs that are in airports, public bathrooms, and planes.

Deodorant: Don’t be that passenger that no one wants to sit next to! Especially if you are taking a longer or overnight flight, you will definitely want to reapply some deodorant throughout your flight.

Compact Mirror: You might want to check yourself and make sure you don’t have makeup smeared all over your face or your hair isn’t a complete disaster. Has anyone seen the movie, The Wedding Date? When Debra Messing wakes up on the plane and looks like a total train wreck? Haha! I rest my case.

Warm Socks: Something to make your flight a little more enjoyable. Pop off those sneakers and put on some fuzzy socks. I assure you, you will be able to sleep better and be more comfortable if you try this!

Travel Adapter Plug: If you’re traveling internationally, you will DEFINITELY a few of these. You don’t want to be stuck and not be able to charge your phone or plug that curling iron in, now do you?

Portable Charger: Yes, I know that airports have tons of outlets and charging stations. However, I have been caught in busy terminals with delayed/canceled flights before that were holding crowds upon crowds of people. Do you think you’ll be able to find an outlet to charge your phone there? No…the answer is no.

Cardigan: Whether you’re traveling during the summer or winter months, airplanes are ALWAYS cold! Pack a cardigan, sweater, or sweatshirt to keep yourself cozy in-flight.

Passport: Shocking, I know.

Cellphone: Obviously…

So, what do you pack in your carry-on? Are there any additional items that I should add to my list? I hope this guide helps you pack the perfect carry-on bag and get you ready for your next trip or adventure!

Stay tuned to see what our plans are for our stay in the States, and to hear where we will be off to next!

Happy Traveling!
