Happy Weekend, friends! Whether you have a fun Labor Day Picnic planned, or you’re spending this long weekend relaxing at home, I have the perfect recipe for a super quick and easy southern sweet tea!
I have to admit, I’m basically a sweet tea-aholic and for me, there is no better beverage than this one on a hot summer day. I was getting pretty tired of buying bottles on bottles of tea at the grocery store, so I decided to start making my own at home. As it turns out, this recipe happens to be WAY more cost-effective. Not to mention, it tastes exactly like the sweet tea you might order from McDonald’s. WIN!
While this recipe definitely isn’t the healthiest thing you might consume all week (you may want to look away while you’re adding the sugar), the tasty-ness of it is totally worth it!
Ingredients:
- 4 Lipton Family Size Tea Bags
- 4 Cups Boiling Water
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 12 Cups Cold Water
Directions:
- Add the tea bags to water and bring water to a boil in a tea kettle or on the stovetop.
- Pour the boiling water over the 2 cups of sugar and let sit for about 30 minutes.
- Add the 12 cups of cold water.
- Let the tea cool in the refrigerator.
- Serve over ice with a slice of lemon and enjoy!
Notes:
- Recipe makes 1 gallon
- If you’re not using “Lipton Family Size” tea bags, any black tea bag will work the same. Just note that 1 Family Size tea bag equals 4 regular size tea bags.
Happy Labor Day Weekend everyone!
