DIY Facial Serum

Hey girls!

I have such a great DIY to share with you today so that you can make your own Facial Serum at home. It’s super quick and easy and I know you all will love it! When I was getting married a couple of years ago, I was trying out some (super) expensive facial serums from a variety of brands, and to be honest, I truly believe this serum works just as good, if not better than those other ones!

To make the facial serum, I use a few different essential oils from my stash at home. What I find to be so interesting is so many of the major skincare companies that you’ll find in stores infuse their products with essential oils. A lot of the time, that’s the reason why they are so dang expensive! What I absolutely love is the fact that I already own the secret ingredient that is making these products so effective- and I have it in its most pure form! I am able to use the pure, raw ingredient for my facial serum, and I can make it at home without all of the synthetics or chemical fillers added to it. How awesome is that?!

The only essential oils that I use are oils from Young Living. I chose this brand because they are the longest and most established essential oil company in the world. They also carry a Seed To Seal promise which guarantees that none of their products are altered or added to from the time the oil is a seed in the ground until it is sealed in the bottle ready for use. It’s especially important to use pure essential oils that don’t contain any synthetics or fragrance when this is a product that you will be applying directly to your skin. Brand matters, people!

So, to make the face serum, you’ll need 3 oils: Lavender, Frankincense, and Copaiba. The combination of these 3 oils works wonders for your skin! They are known to calm redness and inflammation, even out skin tone, prevent and treat fine lines or wrinkles, moisturize, and give your skin a nice “glow”. For that reason, this serum has been coined as, the “Glow Serum!” You can apply this morning or night (or both) after you have washed your face. Unless it is wintertime or my skin is overly dry for some reason, I usually don’t even have to apply a moisturizer after this! It’s so moisturizing on its own and lasts for the entire day.

Making the Glow Serum

  • Put 15 drops each of Lavender, Frankincense, and Copaiba into a 1 oz. amber glass dropper bottle, which you can get here from Amazon.
  • Fill the rest of the bottle with Jojoba Oil, which you can also get from Amazon here.
  • Shake it up
  • Use about 2 drops and gently rub into your face

Two of the oils that you need to make this glow serum currently come in the Starter Kit from Young Living! You can learn more about the Starter Kit here. We have switched (almost) everything in our house over to non-toxic products from Young Living and the Starter Kit was our very first purchase! It has given me so much peace of mind knowing that we are using the safest and cleanest products in our home and avoiding any toxins or chemicals when possible.
