Fourth Wedding Anniversary | Fruit & Flowers

Last week, Ryan and I celebrated our FOURTH wedding anniversary. We were SO beyond thrilled to celebrate this special day while we were home in the US. So much so that we took advantage of the lake-setting and planned something extra special! Since year 1, both Ryan and I have gone the “traditional” route when it came to gift-giving. For our first year we exchanged paper gifts, picked out cotton goodies for year two, leather gifts for year three, and year four brings us to fruit & flowers. The fruit & flower theme is supposed to represent the blossoming of your relationship and the beauty that comes with sticking by each other’s side through thick and thin. Kind of sweet, right?! At first I thought the idea of gifting fruit & flowers seemed super lame-o, but after reading the meaning behind it, I sort of fell in love with it!

How We Celebrated

Since we were home with my family in Connecticut for our anniversary, we decided to get the most out of the lake- backdrop and plan a waterside dinner on the dock. We thought it would be super special to set up a romantic fruit & flowers-themed evening! With the help of my sweet mama, Ryan and I moved a bistro table & chairs onto the dock, picked out a white tablecloth and set it up in the middle of our dock. I also decided to pull out my bridal bouquet and use it as our centerpiece! It was made from paper flowers, so thankfully it still looked as beautiful as it did 4 years ago. We then lined the dock and walkway with some lanterns and torches that my parents had around their patio.

I decided to pull out a floral maxi dress that I had bought and worn on our mini-moon AND honeymoon, and I also wore my perfume from our wedding day that was coincidentally called “Blooming Bouquet“. When it came to dinner, we decided to make one of our favorite splurge meals…lobster tails and veggies! I know I know, it wasn’t very on-brand with the whole fruit & flowers theme, but whatevs! It was still amazing! And last but not least, for dessert I opted to make chocolate-covered strawberries. YUM! Ryan had about 10 of them (haha) so I think it’s safe to say they were beyond delicious.

Gift Ideas

Edible Arrangement: I don’t care if some people think this is a tacky idea, because it’s kind of genius, isn’t it?! I mean, if you order one that is arranged like a flower arrangement, you have fruit AND flowers in one gift! I personally love it!

Apple Products: Considering this is what I gifted Ryan, I am very fond of this idea. If your significant other is in dire need of a new phone, laptop, iPad, or whatever, treating them to a little “Apple” could be an awesome surprise. Especially because the play on words is genius! I wrote a little poem for Ryan in the card hinting at the “Apple” gift under his plate at dinner and he was THRILLED!

Floral Perfume: If you are looking for a gift for your woman, you can never go wrong with a floral perfume. This one here has been a favorite of mine for YEARS! I wore it on my wedding day and it is so light and beautiful.

Fruity Wine: An obvious pick if you or your significant other is a wine lover! You can easily pick out a fruity wine to pop open during your celebration. Very on-theme!

Blender with Fruits: While this may not be one of the more “romantic” gifts, I still think it’s a cool idea! You could snag this blender here, fill it with various berries, and gift it to your sweetie.

Fruit Pie: This could be the perfect dessert to your anniversary dinner! You can’t go wrong no matter which fruit you choose. If you want to get fancy, you could even carve a little “4” into the top of it!

So tell me, do you have any big plans for your anniversary this year?!
