Life Update | We’re Moving!

Yup, you read that right. We are moving…AGAIN!

I am SO thrilled to share with you all that we are moving to Lübeck, Germany! Ryan has signed with VfB Lübeck and we are getting ready to pack-up in just a few short weeks, bringing our Moving Tally up to 4 cities and 5 apartments in just 5 seasons. Cue the panic!

This new contract has been months in the making. I am so relieved to finally be able to share the news, as it has been the center of our lives throughout the last few months. It’s all we have talked about, thought about, and dreamt about. Without a doubt, it has been an insanely stressful process. However, we are also super excited, sad, and of course, crazy nervous. It’s safe to say we have been feeling ALL the emotions lately!

How we’re feeling:

It goes without saying that we are both getting super emotional about leaving the city of Leipzig, as well as this club. Leipzig was the first place we moved to after Ryan and I got married. It’s the city where we adopted our fur baby, Jax, and it is the longest amount of time we have ever spent in one city since moving to Germany four years ago. It feels as if Ryan and I really became a family here.

Over the past two years here in Leipzig, we have made many lasting memories and have had some truly unforgettable moments. We are truly going to miss the city of Leipzig, our cute little apartment by the beach, and the friends we have made here. Not to mention, the bond that we feel with 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig is one that can never be broken. Whether you’re a fan, a player, a sponsor, or an employee, anyone who is a part of the club in some way is like a family member. It’s unlike anything we have ever experienced before and it is, by far, the hardest part about saying goodbye.

The next chapter:

As sad as we are to leave the place we have called “Home” for the past two years, we are beyond excited to start our new adventure in Lübeck! Both Ryan and I are super eager to explore our new home and see a side of Germany we have not yet explored. The medieval city of Lübeck is one that we hear nothing but great things about. Everyone raves about the old and stunning architecture in the downtown area, as well as the beautiful beaches that sit on the Baltic Sea. Not to mention, with Lübeck being the home of Marzipan, it’s safe to say we will never experience a shortage of sweet treats. That’s always a win in my book!

In terms of soccer, Ryan is starting to get really excited for this next step in his career. It’s a new league for him which means a whole new set of challenges to face. However, if you know Ryan in real life, you know that he secretly thrives off of new challenges. We are so excited to see what this next chapter holds!

This Saturday, May 18th (which also happens to be my 26th birthday), Ryan will play in his last game for 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. I can already tell you that there will be many tears shed that day as Ryan says goodbye to his teammates, the club, and the fans. We can’t thank them enough for an unforgettable two years here in Leipzig!

As stressful and chaotic as these constant moves are, I am so incredibly grateful for what this crazy soccer life has given us. I mean, how lucky are we that we are about to move to our 4th city here in Germany? We are definitely soaking up every single second of this European life that we have been blessed with and are so looking forward to seeing what comes next!

So…what’s next on our agenda? Pack, and pack, and pack some more. Stay tuned!
