The Importance of Wellness

This is a post I have been wanting to write for what seems like FOREVER. I have just had a really hard time organizing my thoughts and getting them onto paper (or in this case, screen haha). But then I thought to myself, “So, what? Who cares if you ramble?” So, here we are. I’m just going for it, rambles and all!

Let’s talk about the importance of wellness! I think this is a concept that is truly so important and one that we, as a society, have begun to lose sight of. I honestly believe wellness is something that we should be striving to focus on and place as a high priority in all of our lives. So, what exactly do I mean by “wellness”? To me, wellness means working towards keeping yourself above the line of disease. It means being in a good state of health and it is an active goal that we should all be striving to achieve.

Where We Have Gone Astray

We are so fortunate to live in a time where we have access to modern medicine and advanced technology when it comes to our health. However, I do feel like it has become very easy for all of us to rely too heavily on this. Our society today is all about fast-paced and quick results. We want our iPhones to load up apps at lightning speed, we want our takeout to be delivered in 20 minutes or less, and we are no different when it comes to our health! If we feel a headache coming on, we pop a pill and hope that it goes away within 3o minutes. Or, if we feel a little down about something, we are so quick to run to our therapist and get an anti-depressant to help make us feel better. Sound familiar?

We get so caught up in these “quick fixes” that we never stop and take a minute to think about the root of the problem. And part of me understands this completely! We all lead very busy lives with our careers, with our families, social calendars, projects, and everything else we have going on. Because of this, we never want to take the time needed to truly invest in our health. This is the point where I think we have gone astray! We have to stop trying to “quick fix” ourselves in terms of our health. We have all gotten into the habit of treating symptoms as they come instead of getting down to the root of it. Instead of being stuck in this routine of reacting and responding, we should be putting our attention and efforts into prevention and maintenance.

We get so caught up in these “quick fixes” that we never stop and take a minute to think about the root of the problem.

The Road To Wellness

This idea of prevention and maintenance is what keeps us above the wellness line here, people! Do I need to repeat that sentence, or can I trust that you all took it seriously (haha)? We have to put ourselves in a place where all the systems in our bodies are being well-supported. We have to work towards preventing disease, and then we have to continue to work every single day to maintain that state of health. So, how do we do that? Of course, a healthy diet and regular exercise will allow you lead a healthier life. This is no surprise to anyone (or at least, I hope it isn’t!) So, instead of harping on the obvious, what I want to talk about is the not-so-obvious: the products that we bring into our homes and put on our bodies each and every day.

How I Stay Above The Wellness Line

As many of you guys know, I made the switch to using Young Living products for nearly everything in my home. And when I say everything, I really mean it. I chose to go with Young Living because they are dominating in this game of wellness! They are a total wellness company and their products support all of the systems in your body without overloading them with harsh chemicals. They carry essential oils, personal care products, cleaning supplies, supplements, makeup, kid’s items, and more. The company as a whole is rooted in this idea of prevention and maintenance, and this is why I love them so much!

So, if you’re wondering what I do to stay healthy and keep ourselves above the wellness line, the better question would probably be, “What don’t I do?” Ryan and I are both using essential oils to support our immune systems, our hormones, our emotions, for sleep support, skin support, and lots more! The essential oils from Young Living are therapeutic-grade and the purest and most authentic oils you will find on this Earth. Not only do they make our home smell wonderful, but they are supporting every single system in our body every time we use them. Furthermore, I have switched to non-toxic and plant-based products such as laundry detergent, dish soap, household cleaner, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, and the list goes on… These products are safe, all-natural, and they are contributing to our health and wellness at the same time. WIN, WIN!

Wrapping Things Up…

All of the things that we are using each and every day are working together to support our bodies and keep us above the wellness line. Every single day we are using products that focus on getting down to the root of our issues. It has truly been so amazing to witness how good your body can feel when it is being properly supported. Ever since we have incorporated these oils and products into our daily lives, Ryan and I have never felt better physically, mentally, or emotionally and for that, I am so grateful! These oils and products have become such a big part of our lives and I am so thankful that I have these bottles of plant power to turn to.
